What are the frequencies that make up a signal called?
Its spectrum
1 of 11
How can you get information about the frequencies within a signal?
By drawing a graph.
2 of 11
What is bandwidth?
The range of frequencies within a signal.
3 of 11
How can you find the bandwidth?
Subract the lowest frequency from the highest frequency or by looking at the sprectrum on the graph.
4 of 11
What does the bandwidth determin?
How many signals can be sent at the same time.
5 of 11
Why are carrier waves used?
So different signals don't interfere with eachother.
6 of 11
What type of wave is mixed with a communication signaal?
Carrier wave
7 of 11
Why must there be a gap between frequencies?
To stop neighnouring signals from overlapping.
8 of 11
Why is the problem with having gaps between frequencies?
Limits the number of signals that can be transmitted.
9 of 11
What is the formula for calculating rate of transmission?
Samples per second x Bits per sample
10 of 11
What two factors does the rate of transmission depend on?
The number of samples per second- must be atleast twice the highest frequency so all frequencies are transmitted. The number of bits per sample- Must be high enough to the signal transmitted closely matches the original.
