Give the 2 defintions of sacrament
An outward sign of inward grace. or. Rites & Rituals which give the believer grace(refers to 7 rites in catholic church)

What 2 effects does Sacraments have on the believer?
Sacraments sanctify the believer-i.e.make them more holy. Also,Catholics believe that everytime they take part in a sacrament they receive more grace & welcome Christ into their lives

What happens in Baptism & what effect does this have on the person?
Action:cleansed of original sin,official member of church,receives Holy Spirit,gets grace.Effect:a child of God & can enter heaven(man of sin died (dipped in water) & comes out as a new creation in God (risen out of water).Lead by priest

What happens in Reconciliation & what effect does this have on the person?
When a person confesses their sins to a priest & they are forgiven..Can happen on a regular basis.Effect:The person's relationship with God is restored & you can become a saint

What happens in Holy Communion & what effect does this have on the person?
When a person receives the consecrated Bread & Wine-the Body & Blood of Jesus.Can happen on a regular basis,during Mass.Effect:The person receives the life of Christ & helps them to keep growing in God's love & eternal life

What happens in Confirmation & what effect does this have on the person?
Oil anointing,Bishop tap ur face,candle lit from Easter candle,laying on of hands.Effect:completes grace recieved from Baptism recieves Holy Spirit-you become an active member of Church

What happens in Marriage & what effect does this have on the person?
When a man & woman give consent to be married,exchange of rings,wedding rows.usually only happens once.Effect:couple accept that thru their love for each other-love of God active in their lives & the two become one-inseparable in God's eyes

What happens in Ordination? what effect does this have on the person?
Laying of hands,prostrate,litany of saints,ancient prayer of ordination,Chrism Oil anointing.Effect:become priest/deacon/bishop/nun

what effect does Ordination have on the person?
Effect:person commits himself to God & church & given powers to carry out his ministry e.g.preach,forgive sins,consecrate at Mass

What happens in Sacrament of the Sick & what effect does this have on the person?
When a person is very ill is anointed with the Oil of the Sick & anointing prayer.Can happen more than once.Effect:patient gets physical & spiritual healing,comfort,courage,forgiveness of sins
