What is the Big Crunch?
The universe will one day stop expanding. Then as gravity pulls on the matter, the universe will begin to contract, falling inward until it collapses.

What is the big rip?
An unseen force called the 'dark energy' is causing the accelerating expansion of the universe. Eventually the acceleration speeds up so much that it can't take it anymore and rips apart into nothingness.

in christianity, the belief in the coming of a thousand year golden age, linked with the second coming of christ

The second coming of Jesus. The leader claimed God had told him to start building an army and prepare for the end of days to ensure salvation for his believers.

What was the enlightenment?
A period in history where people began to focus more on philosophy, science and medicine rather than religion. Therefore people started to become less religious.
