What is the Cardiorespiratory System?
The combination of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems
1 of 26
What is Aerobic Endurance?
The ability of the cardiorespiratory system to work efficiently, supplying nutrients and oxygen to the working muscles during sustained physical activity
2 of 26
What is Muscular Endurance?
The ability of the muscular system to work efficiently. This means a muscle can continue to contract over a period of time against a light to moderate fixed resistance load
3 of 26
What is Muscular Strength?
The maximum force that can be generated by a muscle or muscle group
4 of 26
What is Flexibility?
Having an adequate range of movement in all joints in the body
5 of 26
What is Speed?
How fast something is, measured in m/s
6 of 26
What is Accelerative Speed?
Sprints up to 30m
7 of 26
What is Pure Speed?
Sprints up to 60m
8 of 26
What is Speed Endurance?
Sprints with a short recovery period in between
9 of 26
What is Body Composition?
The relative ratio of fat mass to fat-free mass in the body
10 of 26
What is Balance?
The ability to maintain a centre of mass over a supporting base
11 of 26
What is Power?
The product of speed and strength; the amount of work done in a period of time
12 of 26
What is Agility?
The ability of a sports performer to quickly and precisely move or change direction without losing balance or time
13 of 26
What is Coordination?
The smooth flow of movement needed to perform a motor task efficiently and accurately
14 of 26
What is Reaction Time?
The time that is takes a sports performer to respond to a stimulus
15 of 26
What does FITT stand for?
Frequency, Intensity, Time, Type
16 of 26
What is Specificity?
When training is specific to the individual's sport, activity or fitness goals

What is Individual Needs?
When training is designed to meet the needs and goals of each sports performer

What is Variation?
When you do different activities in training to make it more enjoyable
19 of 26
What are Rest and Recovery?
When you allow your body to rest and recover after exercise to allow the body to heal and any damage to be repaired
20 of 26
What is Progressive Overload?
When training is demanding enough to produce progress by allowing the body to adapt, resulting in an improved performance
21 of 26
What is Adaptation?
How the body reacts to training loads by increasing its ability to cope with these loads
22 of 26
What is Reversibility?
If training stops or the intensity of training is not sufficient to trigger adaptation, the effects of training are reversed
23 of 26
How do you calculate your target heart rate zones?
Calculate the HR max using the equation 220-age(years). Then multiply your answer by 0.85 for your upper training threshold and by 0.6 for your lower training threshold. Your target zone is between these two thresholds
24 of 26
What does RPE stand for?
Rate of Perceived Exertion
