What is the amplitude of a wave?
it is the distance from the middle line to the top of the wave (crest)
1 of 8
What is the wavelength?
the length of a full cycle of the wave (from crest to crest)
2 of 8
What is the frequency?
the number of complete cycles or oscillations passing a certain point persecond.
3 of 8
What is frequency measured in?
hertz (Hz). 1 Hz is 1 wave per second.
4 of 8
How do waves travel?
Waves travel in straight lines through whatever substance they're travelling through. When the wave arrives at an obstacle or meets a new material, their direction change. This can happen by reflection, refraction or diffraction.
5 of 8
What is reflection?
reflection of light allows us to see objects. When a beam of light reflects from an uneven surface, the light reflects off at different angles. If reflects on even surface, all the same angle.
6 of 8
Law of reflection?/
Angle of INCIDENCE = Angle of REFLECTION.
7 of 8
What is total internal reflection?
happens when the light ray travels through a dense material like glass towards a less dense substance like air. If the angle of incidence is big enough( bigger -critical angle), the ray doesn't come out at all, but reflects back into the material.
