What is heat a measure of?
Energy
1 of 7
What is temperature a measure of?
Hotness
2 of 7
What is Specific Heat Capacity?
it tells you how much something can store, how much energy you need to warm 1kg of material by 1 degree celcius
3 of 7
What is boiling?
Where the heat energy makes the particles move faster. They will then have enough energy to overcome their attraction to each other , big bubbles of gas form in the liquid.
4 of 7
What is melting?
Heat energy makes the particles vibrate faster until eventually the forces between them are overcome and the particles start to move around
5 of 7
Why doesn't the temperature change when material is changing state?
because you are still putting energy in to it, but the energy is used for breaking the inter molecular bonds rather than raising the temperature.
6 of 7
What is specific latent heat of melting/boiling ?
The amount of energy needed to melt/boil 1kg of material without changing it's temperature
