Anaerobic respiration in plants and micoorganisms?
When there is limited H2O: 1) parts of plants, such as roots waterlogged in soil, and germinating seeds. 2) some microorganism, like yeast (baking), lactobacilli (cheese - and yoghurt - making) and bacteria in puncture wounds.

Formula for anaerobic respiration in plants and microorganisms?
Glucose --> Ethanol + Carbon Dioxide (+ energy releases)
2 of 5
biofuels and sustainablity?
Can be controversial. land may be used to grow crops for fuel instead of food for people. Forest is cut down for land to be used to grow crops for fuel. Producers, are now developing ways of using non-food crops and algae to end the need to use crops
3 of 5
Biogas from waste?
Obtained from animal manure or human waste. Bacteria break down the organic material in the manure and produce methane gas. Used as a fuel to heat buildings and run electrcity generators.
4 of 5
Biogas used?
Used in some developing countries, such as by small houlders in rural parts of India. It is particuarly useful where other sources of energy, such as electricity, ar not available.
