What are particles?
They are molecules in a certain item E.g. Water Droplet.
3 of 39
What is kinetic energy?
It's what make particles move.
4 of 39
What are solids, liquids & gasses?
States of matter.
5 of 39
What is the process where particles move around?
Diffusion
6 of 39
What did Mr Brown discover?
Brownian Motion
7 of 39
What was Newtons theory?
"Every action has an equal and opposite reaction"
8 of 39
What is friction?
A force which resists movement between forces.
9 of 39
What is our breathing system made up of?
Lungs, nose, mouth, windpipe-(trachea).
10 of 39
What is the breathing system called?
Respiratory system.
11 of 39
How much gas is inhaled when you breath in?
Oxygen-21% Carbon Dioxide-0.04% Nitrogen-79%
12 of 39
How much gas is exhaled when you breath out?
Oxygen-16% Carbon Dioxide-4% Nitrogen-79%
13 of 39
What is the process of breathing in?
Rib muscles contract pulling the rib-cage in & out. the diaphragm flatters. The volume in the chest increases so the pressure decreases. Low pressure causes the air to be sucked in to the lungs.
14 of 39
What do organs work together to make?
Organ system
15 of 39
How many planets are there?
8 planets
16 of 39
Name the planets in order.
Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune.
17 of 39
What is the rhyme that lets you remember the planets in order?
My Very Easy Method Just Speeds Up Names
18 of 39
Name all the parts of a plant cell.
Cell wall, vacuole, cell membrane, nucleus, chloroplast, cytoplasm, mitochondria.
19 of 39
What is the job of the cell membrane?
It controls what enters and leaves the cells.
20 of 39
What is the job of the cytoplasm?
Place where lots of chemical reactions (photosynthesis) take place.
21 of 39
What is the job of the nucleus?
Stores information (in DNA) and controls what happens in the cell.
22 of 39
What is job of the mitochondria?
Release energy from food (glucose) by aerobic respiration .
23 of 39
What is the job of the cell wall?
Made from cellulose and gives rigid support to the cell.
24 of 39
What is the job of the vacuole?
Inflates the cell like air pumped into a tyre and provides support to the cell.
25 of 39
What is the job of the chloroplast?
It contains the green chlorophyll that changes sunlight energy into glucose food energy.
26 of 39
What affects does smoking have?
It damages the breathing tubes, so that mucus builds up. This causes a cough and it makes breathing more difficult. It can cause long cancer as well.
27 of 39
Why do we need carbohydrates in our body?
It gives the body energy.
28 of 39
Why does our body need fat?
To have a balanced diet and it stores it in the body.
29 of 39
Why do we need protein?
For growth and repair.
30 of 39
Why do we need vitamins?
It's used to help chemical reactions take place in the body.
31 of 39
Why do we need minerals?
It is used to make bones strong and help the body carry oxygen.
32 of 39
Why do we need fibre?
It helps undigested food pass quickly through the gut.
33 of 39
Why do we need water?
It dissolves chemicals, so that chemical reactions can take place.
34 of 39
What are the effects of short term alcohol?
It slows down reactions, it reduces co-ordination and then can alter people's behaviour.
35 of 39
What are the effects of long term alcohol?
It causes liver failure, brain damage, increase of strokes and heart attacks and anxiety and depression.
36 of 39
