How do you measure speed?
average speed=distance ÷ time
1 of 10
What does the gradient tell us on a distance time graph ?
about the speed of the object. e.g a higher speed = steeper gradient
2 of 10
what is a change of speed per unit called?
acceleration
3 of 10
formula of measuring acceleration
acceleration= change in speed(or velocity) ÷ time taken
4 of 10
why might reaction time increase ?
tired , under the influence of alcohol , travelling faster, distracted
5 of 10
why might braking distance increase ?
road conditions poor, car hasn't been properly maintained e.g worn brakes , speed increased
6 of 10
what is work done?
when a force moves an object in the direction in which the force acts.
7 of 10
what is the formula for work done?
work done= force × distance moved ( in the direction of the force)
8 of 10
name some safety features within a car.....
crumple zone, seat belts , air bags
9 of 10
what is terminal speed?
maximum speed reached by a falling object. This happens when the forces acting on the object are balanced
