What is Mitosis?
Mitosis is a process of cell division which takes place in order for us to survive.
1 of 7
What does Mitosis produce
2 cells which are genetically identical to the original cell.
2 of 7
What are the cells produced by mitosis referred to
Daughter Cells
3 of 7
Step 1- prophase, what happens?
chromosomes condense(get shorter+ fatter), membrane around nucleus breaks down, chromosomes lie free in cytoplasm.
4 of 7
Step 2- Metaphase, what happens
chromosomes line up in centre of cell
5 of 7
Step 3- anaphase, what happens
cell fibres pull chromosomes apart
6 of 7
Step 4- telophase, what happens
membranes form around each set off chromosomes- these become the nuclei of each new cell as the nucleus has DIVIDED
