Science B3

?
Name the 5 functions in an animal cell?
Mitochondria, cytoplasm, cell membrane, ribosome, nucleus
1 of 10
Name the 3 organelles a plant cell has that an animal cell doesn't?
Cell wall, vacuole, chloroplast
2 of 10
Describe the function of mitochondria?
It's the power house of the cell where energy is provided to the cell
3 of 10
Describe the function of chloroplasts?
Where photosynthesis takes place
4 of 10
What is a DNA?
A double helix strand with four different bases
5 of 10
What type of data dos Watson and crick use to understand The structure of DNA?
X-ray data to show structure. Other data showing the bases occurred in pairs
6 of 10
Describe the process of DNA replication.
The molecule of the DNA unzips then free floating nucleotides pair up with complementary bases on DNA. Lastly they form cross links between the bases so they are tightly joined together.
7 of 10
Describe the process of protein synthesis.
A, molecule called the mRNA creates a copy of the genetic DNA code needed then takes it to the ribosome which then splits the code into 3 bases each. This is then formed into amino acids and joined together to make a long chain clawed proteins
8 of 10
Name the 4 different proteins.
Carrier molecules, hormones, enzymes, structural proteins
9 of 10
What are carrier molecules used for?
Used to transport smaller molecules e.g haemoglobin
