It blocks the nerve impulses from pain receptors, so you dont feel as much pain.

What effect does a stimulant have?
Makes you feel more awake and enegetic, decreases reaction time

What effect does a depressant have?
It makes you feel tired and slows the activity of the brain, and increases your reaction time (takes longer to react)

What effect does a hallucinogen have?
Changes perception, makes colours seem brighter, makes it hard to distinguish between what is real and not real.

Carbon monoxide reduces the amount of oxygen blood can carry, nicotine is addicitve, and chemicals in tar are carcinogens which can cause cancer such as mouth and lung.
