Changes perception, makes colours seem brighter, makes it hard to distinguish between what is real and not real.

Carbon monoxide reduces the amount of oxygen blood can carry, nicotine is addicitve, and chemicals in tar are carcinogens which can cause cancer such as mouth and lung.
