Describe schizophrenia
It's heterogenous, there are 3 domains: positive - delusions happen in over 50% of people, hallucinations, negative - a degree of loss of experience, asociality, anhedonia (loss of pleasure), alogia (poverty of speech), disorganised - disorganised speech,

What is catatonic syndrome?
Catatonic excitement - unusual increase in movement, catatonic immobility - unusual posture, long periods.

Describe DSM-5 criteria for
schizophrenia
Two or more from cat A: delusions,
hallucinations, disorganised speech (domains), abnormal psychomotor behaviour, negative symptoms, signs >6 months, no longer subtypes.

What's the difference between brief psychotic disorder/schizophreniform?
1 day-1 month, 1-6 month symptoms.

What are the comorbidities?
Panic disorder (15%), PTSD (29%), OCD (23%), depression (50%), substance abuse disorder (47%).

Describe the Shepard, Walt & Faloon

What other meds are used?
Amphetamines produce SZ-type symptoms, Glutamarte-low levels in SZ, ketamine blocks glutamine receptors, serotonin-LSD.

Enlarged ventricles, reduced grey matter, reduced glucose metabolism
