Specific mental structures or frameworks that we build up through experience. e.g. how to catch a bus

What are schemas for?
To help make sense of the world. They enable us to predict events and decide what we should do in any given situation. They help us to make sense of unfamiliar circumstances and organise our own behaviour.

Re-constructive memory
Memories aren't recorded and stored exactly as a snapshot of the stimulus, event or situation. They're constructed over time and influenced by our schemas. I f people reconstruct events from memory then the reconstruction is open to bias from factors

What is an independent variable?
The thing that the experimenter changes

Something that changes depending on the independent variable
