We use sampling as we cannot study everyone in our target population.

Every member of the target group has a equal chance of being selected

People actively volunteer to the study by responding to advertisement

Participants that are available and willing to be studied

what are the advantages and disadvantages of random sampling?
advantages: unbiased- all members have equal chance, quck and easy....... Disadvantages: cannot guarentee a representative sample

what are the advantages and disadvantages of voluntary sampling?
advantages: wide variety of participants, allow in depth study more accurat, mopre representative sample...... Disadvantages; biased as it people are more motivated to do the study and can have more time

what are the advantages and disadvantages of opportunity sampling?
advantages: easy and quick, takes less time..... Disadvantages: unlikley to be representative of the target population
