Every member of the target pop. has a chance of being selected. Free from investigator bias but time consuming.

Uses a random starting point with a fixed interval. Minimises investigator bias and is time consuming.

Identify the types that make up the target population and create a representative sample. Most representative method. Time consuming and complex.

Opportunity
People who are available at the time and willing to take part. Quick, cheap and easy. Introduces investigator bias.

P's must themselves forward, e.g. answer an advert. Quick, cheap and easy. Introduces investigator bias.
