Salts and Solubility rules

?
When do you Titrate?
When you want to make a soluble salt and when you know the quantity of alkali but not the quantity of the acid
1 of 8
What is a salt?
a salt is the product when an acid and a base react
2 of 8
when an oxide reacts with acid what do you get?
Salt+water
3 of 8
is sodium carbonate soluble?
Yes
4 of 8
Is calcium hydroxide soluble?
Sparingly
5 of 8
When do you use the method of precipitation
when you want to create an insoluble salt
6 of 8
how do you perform the precipitate method
First put the acid and alkali together and stir you can heat the reaction so it becomes quicker if you want to. A solid should form at the bottom of the beaker. Filter that using a filter funnel and filter paper. the residue is your salt
7 of 8
How do you perform the Excess method
into 25cm3 of acid sprinkle a little bit of the acid in at a time. heat the mixture to speed up the reaction process and the after no more reacts. put the mixture in an evaporating dish and evaporate. Put on filter paper and put on windowsill
