Cone Cell
Role: To allow us to see in colour, they are found at the back of the eye. The middle segment contains lots of mitochondria to provide energy for visual pigment to detect colour. Also has special nerve endings to connect to the optic nerve.

White Blood Cell
Role: To engulf and digest bacteria. Is part of the immune system. Full of enzymes to destroy bacteria and is filled with robosomes to make the enzymes. ENZYMES ARE PROTIENS

Fat Cell
Role: Allow the body to store fat. Has very little cytoplasm so there is more room for fat storage. Has few mitochondria as the fat cell requires little energy. They can expand x1000 their original size.

Sperm Cell
Role: To move and penetrate the outer layer of the egg cell - cell membrane. The Sperm cell is a gamete (sex cell). It has a long tail to swim to the egg. The middle section is full of mitochondria to provide it with energy for the tail to move.

Nerve Cell (Neuron)
Role: To transmit electrical impulses through the body. It has special endings that form synapses with other nerve cells to allow electrical impulses to travel through the body. Has long axons to help the impulses travel a longer disitance faster.

Red Blood Cell
Role: Absorb oxeygen by attaching it to the hemoglobin and carrying it around the body. It contains no nucleus so more oxeygen can be carried. It is flexible to squeeze through capillories.

Ciliated Cell
Role: To move the egge towards the uterus. It has cilia on the surface which move the egg down the fallopion tubes. Contains mitochondria which provide the energy needed to move the cilia

Muscle Cell
Role: Contract to move the skeleton. It contains mitochondria to give it the energy for the contraction

Palisade Cell
Role: Absorb sunlight for photosynethsis. Found in the leaves (mostly the top). Full of chloroplasts which contain chloropyll to absorb light.Have large vacuoles containing sugars made in photosynethesis.

Pair Of Guard Cells
Role: Is to allow Co2 into the leaf and water vapour and O2 out. They are flexible so they can open and close the stomata (pores) which allow the exchange of gases

Root Hair Cell
Role: Absorb water and minerals from the soil. Found growing on the tips of the root. Has root hairs to increase the surface are for water to move more quickly into the cell. It has a large vacuole which speeds up water being absorbed from the soil.
