What were the results for this study?
When removed from their caregiver, children go through 3 phases. Protest, despair and detachment, some children could die from this depression.
2 of 5
What was the conclusion of this study?
Robertson concluded that there had to be a change in the hospital system that allowed caregivers to visit their children more often.

What were the strengths of this study? (2)
Naturalistic observations are valid because you obtain real life data in a real situation. Robertson made other films of children, repeating his observation and finding similar results, giving some reliability.
4 of 5
What were the weaknesses of this study?
Hard to generalise because each child is unique and has gone through different experiences before going to hospital. Kirkby and Whelan (1996) found that lots of variables impact the child's state of mind (age, quality of parental attachments)
