Number of people who died for the disease/injury divided by the total population at the time

Perception of risk
Overestimated risk; exposure to media and other peoples experiences, constant worrying. Underestimate; lack of information making them unaware of the factors that contribute to certain diseases such as CVD

Correlation
Positive; two variables, as one increases results in increase in the other. Negative; increase in one variable, decrease in the other. Large amounts of data to check correlation statistically correct.

Causation
When a change in one variable causes a change in the other

Null hypothesis
Scientists assume for the sake of argument that there will be no difference between the experimental group and control group, test this hypothesis. Carry out experients which they can control variables, see if one variable is affecting the other
