What is the coast?
The coast is where the sea and land meet.

what is fetch?
the fetch is the length of water the wind blows over, before it meets the coast.

what is backwash?
the water that rolls back down a beach after a wave has broken.

what is swash?
when the water rushes up to the top of the beach.

what is erosion?
wearing away of rock, stones and soil by rivers, waves, the wind or glaciers.

what is weathering?
the breaking down of rock; it is caused mainly by the weather.

what is deposit?
to drop material ; waves deposit sand and small stones in sheltered parts of the coast, forming beaches.

the carrying away of material by rivers, waves, glaciers or wind.

the action of water pressure in breaking up rock.
