What is a directional hypothesis?
States the direction of the predicted difference between two conditions

What is a non-directional hypothesis?
Predicts a difference between two conditions but doesn't specify a direction in which way the results will go

When do you use either of these?
When past research suggests that findings will go in a specific direction/ No past research to use

What is a pilot study?
A small scale trial run of a study to test any aspects of the design, with a view of improvements
