Explain the pituitary adrenal system
Long term- hypothalamus communicate pituitary glands, release ACTH, stimulates adrenal cortex, release corticosteroids, convert fat & protein to energy
1 of 7
Give the stages of the sympathomedullary pathway
hypothalamus activates sympathetic nervous system, stimulates adrenal medulla, release adrenaline & noradrenaline, body ready for fight ot flight- raise blood pressure and heart rate
2 of 7
What are the products of each stage of respiration?
glycolysis-2NADH 2pyruvate 2ATP, link reaction-2acetly CoA 2CO 2NADH, kreb cycle-1CoA 2CO 1ATP 3NADH 1FAD oxloactate, stage 4- ATP and water
3 of 7
Draw what happens during glycolysis

4 of 7
Draw the link reaction taking place

5 of 7
Explain the Kreb cycle using a diagram
:
6 of 7
What happens during oxidative phosphorylation
reduced coenzymes split into H+ & e-, electrons move along transport chain lose energy, pumps H+ into intermenbrane space, move down gradient back into matrix via ATP synthase, energy combines Pi and ADP to form ATP (chemiosmosis) H+& e- & O = water
