What is respiration?
The process of releasing energy in the form of glucose. It occurs in every living cell
1 of 8
What is aerobic respiration?
The process of releasing energy from glucose using oxygen. It occurs most of the time and is the most efficient way of releasing energy.
2 of 8
What is the word equation for aerobic respiration?
glucose + oxygen --> carbon dioxide + water (+energy)
3 of 8
What is the balanced chemical equation of aerobic respiration?
C₆H₁₂O₆ +6O₂ --> 6CO₂ + 6H₂O
4 of 8
What is anaerobic respiration?
The process of releasing energy from only partially broken down glucose without using oxygen and producing lactic acid in animal but ethanol and carbon dioxide in plants. It is less efficient than aerobic respiration.
5 of 8
When does anaerobic respiration occur?
It occurs when you do vigorous exercise and your body can't supply enough oxygen to your muscles.
