what's the difference between obedience and conformity?
obedience is obeying people who are higher in status then someone
conformity is following people who are in the same status as someone

when there is an ally present (someone who has the same pov), this builds confidence to let individuals remain independent.

-individual is able to ignore NSI due to the ally
-if the dissenter returns to conformity, then the other person may pressured to do so too, meaning it may be short-term.
