Define Sampling
A method use to select participants that are representative of a target population

What is an Opportunity Sample? Give an example
A group of participants selected at the most easiest available time/place for a research study. For example, selecting students where they are readily available i.e at the playground during lunch time.

What are the strengths of using an Opportunity Sample?
Quick, convenient and economical: takes less time to locate a sample, and uses first most available participants

What are the weaknesses of using an Opportunity Sample?
May obtain bias and be unrepresentative: Sample may be drawn from a small part of the target population for example, year 7 students may prefer to play outdoors than stay inside compared to for example, year 9 students

What is a Random Sample? Give an example
A group of participants selected via a random technique e.g drawing lots, so that every member of the target population have an equal chance of being selected
