they can offer rich detail insight shedding light on unusual behaviour.So it contributes to our understanding of normal functioning /generate hypothesis for future study

Limitations of case studies
generalising findings if their is only a small sample size/information in final repot is based on subjective selection by researcher/personal accounts may be prone to innacuracy and memory decay/low validity
