The FERTILISED CELL formed. It is DIPLOID and DIVIDES by MITOSIS to form ball of cells

Implantation
When BALL OF CELLS attaches to WALL OF UTERUS. Cells now called EMBRYO. After this the EMBRYO differentiates - produces different tissue + organs.

The Amnion
SAC filled with AMNIOTIC FLUID cushioning the FOETUS from bumps as it DEVELOPS.

The Placenta
EXCHANGE SURFACE for gases and nutrients. Highly FOLDED to increase SURFACE AREA for DIFFUSION.
