Conflict between rival groups within a country, e.g. Sudan

Post 9/11, the USA and its allies have declared war against extreme Islamic fundamentalists, resulting war in Afghanistan

Fighting in the name of God

Right to fight a war in the interests of justice and the greater good

War must be started and controlled by a proper authority, has to be a just case,clear aim to promote good and overcome evil, war must be last resort, must be winnable, war must be conducted fairly, must be good outcome and peace restored

Crusades

Nuclear weapons, biological warfare, chemical warfare, radiological weapons

Discourage other countries from attacking, must work as haven't been used since 1945, arms agreements can only be reached if the worlds powers have equal capabilities,use of other WMDS are less likely

Their use could never be morally justified, cost billions and money could be spent on needy people

WHAT IS TERRORISM?
An act of violence that is intended to create fear and is directed at civilians e.g. 9/11, London bombings

Throughout the world there are 12 million refugees . Forced to leave because of fear of massacre, genocide and other violence. e.g. Red Cross

People who refuse to participate in fighting directly

Pacifist Christian group. believe fighting is wrong

Formed on 24th October in response to 2nd WW, promotes world peace

Maintain peace and security, develop friendly relations between nations, promote respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms

North Atlantic Treaty Organisation. 26 countries in Europe and North America signed the treaty , committed to support each other in protecting their freedom and society
