group behavior may be pro or antisocial, the breakdown of groups and powerlessness create the conditions for tyranny, falling groups create problems because when people cannot create a social system they will accept extreme solutions said by others

a BPS ethics committee reviewed the study, participants were screened and gave fully informed consent, security guards and paramedics were present, a committee could stop the experiment at any time, clinical psychologists monitored participants
