What would the consequences be of not recycling aluminium?
More aluminium ore would have to be mined. Mining makes a mess of landscape. Ores need to be transported. Aluminium needs to be extracted which uses a lot of energy. It costs to send used aluminium to landfill.

95% energy. 4kg of aluminium ore. A lot of waste

Because it mostly comesfrom burning fossil fuels which will run and cause pollution.
