Because then the recuitment is legal and ethical, its efficient and so the best candidate is appointed

What is the law for recuritment?
The law states there must be no discrimination, everyone must have the same opportunity regardless of sex, race or disability.

Ethical Recruitment?
This means there is no favouritism in the business and that all candidates are treated the same and asked the same questions.

Step 1: Identify the vacancy
This means that you have identified you need a new member of staff in the workplace.

Step 2: Draw up a job description
This means what the business are asking you to carry out for there business and what dutys your expected to exceed.

Step 3: Draw up a person specification
This is the skills the person must need to be good at the role they are applying for.

Step 4: Advertise the vacancy
External Advertising is where the job vacancy can be seen by anybody outside of the business, this can be in newspapers. Internal Advertising is where the business look for people to fill the role in the existing workforce

Step 5: Shortlist the candidates
This is where you shorten the amount of people that have applied for the job and you have cut it down to the best people.

Step 6: Interview the applicants
This is where you bring in the shortlist of people and ask them various of questions to see if they are the best for the business.

Step 7: Select and appoint the best candidate
This is where you choose the best person from the interviews, there is normally a back up best candidate in case the best one turns down the job roll

Large Organisations
In a large organisation, recruitment is undertaken by the Human Resources department. Managers are involved in filling vacancies in their own area.

Small Firms
In a small firm, recruitment is overseen by a manager or supervisor – to ensure the candidate will ‘fit in’.
