Encourage greed through adverts.Gives unrealistic ideas about body image.Encourages offensive language and violent behaviour.Sometimes shows a negative side to religion e.g. Reports on terrorism.Encourages discrimination such as racism.

What are some of Christianities views on Wealth?
wealth isn’t in materialistic possessions. God has provided us with what we have- he requires us to use it wisely/generously e.g. Sharing and charity and tithing.

What does Jesus say about Wealth?
Jesus said “don’t lay treasure on the earth”- it decays or will get stolen; “store treasure up in heaven” i.e. Spiritual values and good deeds are most important.

What is Tithing?
*Tithing* to give 10% of your income to the people who need it.

What are the Islamic Views on Wealth?
All wealth is a gift from Allah. It is not wrong to be rich but it gives more responsibility to be generous. One of the five pillars of Islam is that Muslims should give 2 ½ % of their savings to the needy (Zakat).

What are some belief's in life after death?
Don't be the richest person in the graveyard. You can’t take your wealth with you. Aim for reward in heaven.

Giving money to the poor shows belief in Ummah (the world wide family of Islam) supporting each other. Money should not be gained by dishonest means e.g. No gambling and no loaning money for a profit.

What are some short term aids given by Christian Aid?
Short term aid- Given out in disasters e.g. Earthquakes. Aid includes food, shelters/tents, medicine, blankets and clean water to prevent disease.

What are some long term aids given by Christian Aid?
Training doctors, schools, irrigation and crop improvement schemes and water pumps.Campaigning for fair trade and campaigning for rich countries to cancel Third World debt.

What does Islamic Relief do?
Gives out short term and long term aid. Working in poorer countries to help the needy, respond to disaster, provide education and support orphans.

What is Social Justice?
Working for justice and equality.

Give some reasons as to why people are prejudice.
Attitudes picked up from older generations.Bad experiences – our bad experiences with one person may affect our view of the whole group, eg. The “all Muslims are terrorist" stereotype. Fear: Misunderstanding and distrust of people who are different.

Give two more reasons as to why people are prejudice.
Ignorance – we don’t understand much about a certain group, so we easily believe false things about them. Upbringing and Peer Pressure - we go along with the views of our family and friends.

What are some Christian teachings on Prejudice and Equality?
In the creation story, all people and races are created by God, so all are equal in God’s eyes. All people are created in God’s image, so all are special. Jesus had women as followers and which at that time was deemed as unacceptable behaviour.

The parable of the Good Samaritan i.e. “love your neighbour.” “There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave or free, male or female for all are one in Christ. However the Roman Catholic church still reserves Priesthood for men only.

What are some Islamic Teachings on Prejudice and Equality?
All people are created by Allah, so all are equal but not the same. Muhammad set an example of respect for women. The Ummah. However some people are concerned in Muslim countries, women are not allowed an education.

Give some information on what Martin Luther King did as an example of a Christian who fought for equality.
He was an America Baptist Church, dedicated to change the way black people were viewed and treated in the USA. He only used peaceful protest to get his views across. To get his views across he used campaigns, boycotts, sit-ins and marches.

He wrote several speeches including his “I have a dream speech.

What did Malala do? - An example of a Muslim who fought for equality.
She defied threats from the Taliban by campaigning for Muslim girls to freely attend school. In October 2012, she was shot in the head for ignoring the threats She was flown to the Uk to receive treatment. She survived. She continues to campaign.
