Times of Worship
The main services for Christian churches take place on a Sunday morning, as for Christians, Sunday is the ‘Lord’s Day’, when they celebrate the Sabbath (the holy day of rest).

What is Liturgical Worship?
Liturgical worship is when Christians worship according to a set pattern on a regular basis, for example, on a Sunday. It is common for Catholics and Anglicans to follow liturgical patterns.

Books of Liturgical Worship
There will be set prayers and readings. For Catholics, the content of their service is set out in the ‘Roman Missal.’ Whereas Anglican worship is based on the ‘Book of Common Prayer.’

• A procession when the clergy enter or leave the Church; • Formally dressed clergy; • Liturgical colours within the Church or worn by the clergy; • Singing hymns; • Confession of sins; • Prayer, including the Lord’s Prayer;

• Kneeling, seating or standing at certain parts of the ceremony; • Reciting the Nicene or Apostle Creed; • Reading from the gospels; • A collection of money for charity • Performing sacraments (i.e. baptisms); • Using incense;

Why Liturgical Worship?
This type of worship helps Christians feel part of the Christian community. They feel comfortable knowing what to expect before they go to the service and how long they will be there for. They like the tradition. Sense of belonging and identity
