His Report of `Sanitary Conditions of labourings population` in 1842 showed the annual loss of life due to bad ventalation and filth was greater than loss of death or wounds in any war the country had been engaged in.

Discovered link between dirt and disease. Water from pump caused Cholera, removed pump and epidemic stopped. No one believed him until Pasteurs Theory was more widespread.
