it is an incomplete explanation of phobias. Misses out the evelutionary factors in gaining a phobia.

Phobics may be more motivated by feelings of safety rather than fear

Systematic desensitisation + flooding

Both are effective but flooding is slightly more

SD is more acceptable to patients, but flooding is quicker and cheaper

repetitive cpmpulsion, compulsions reduce the anxiety, avoidance

anxiety + distress, accompanying depression, guilt and disgust

obsessive thoughts, cognitive stratagies to dea, insight into excessive anxiety

What are the neural explanations of OCD?
Low serotonin, Frontal Lobes may be impaired

What doi the frontal lobes do?
They control decision making and logical thoughts

What is the genetic explanation of OCD?
genes are inherited, genes build the brain, the brain is the source of all mental states, OCD is a disorder of mental states so therefore OCD could be inherited.
