An emotional bond between two people where certain behaviours occur; such as clinging and proximity seeking

Secure Attachment
strong attachment of an infant to his/her caregiver, formed as a result of the caregiver sensitively responding to the infant's needs. comfortable with social interaction + intimacy and form healthy cognitive and emotional development

Insecure Attachment
develops as a result of a lack of sensitive responding, may be associated with poor subsequent cognitive and emotional development.

the lack of having any attachments due to failure to develop such attachment during early life

Institutionalisation
the result of institutional care which is a place dedicated to a particular task eg children awaiting adoption or caring for mentally ill. live for a period of time.
