What are the three types of reliability?
Internal reliability, External reliability and Inter-rater reliability

What is Internal reliability?
When a measure eg. questionnaire, is consistent within itself by measuring a certain thing at the same level all the way through.

What is External reliability?
When a measure gives the same or similar scored when used on the same individuals at different points in time.

What is Inter-rater reliability?
When two or more psychologists make the same or similar judgements when observing something.

What are the three main types of validity?
Ecological validity, Population validity and Construct validity

What is Ecological Validity?
When a set of findings reflect a real life scenario.

What is Population validity?
When a set of finding represent the population on which they are based.

What is Construct validity?
How well a test or experiment measures the concept that it was designed to measure.

What are Demand Characteristics?
Clues arise in an experiment giving away the aim, making participants behave differently from normal.

What is Observer Effect?
When participants behave differently from normal because they are suspicious of being watched.

What is Social Desirability?
When participants respond differently from normal because they want to present the right image or give the desired answer.
