Demand characteristics
When people change their behavior to what they think someone wants to see

Volunteer (self selecting) sample

Stratified sampling

Random Sampling
When everyone in the population has an equal chance of being selected to be part of a sample

Opportunity sample
When participants who are ready and willing at the time of the experiment take part in the experiment

Reliability
Whether the results of an experiment are reproducible

Where each participant only takes part in one condition of the experiment

When participants are paired depending on similar qualities and one of the pairs takes part in either condition of the study
