Define deviation from social norms
Social norms are socially acceptable ways of behaving. Therefore this suggests that people who break it are considered are abnormal.

One strength is it distinguishes between desirable and undesirable behavior. One weakness is it does not take into account the context. For example, being nude in public would be considered abnormal but being nude on a nudist beach is normal
