Psychological Formulation STRENGTH- McKnight et al (1984)
Founds that case formulation did predict effective treatments and also which treatments wouldn't be effective.

Psychological Formulation STRENGTH- Ghaderi (2006)
Suggested there was mixed evidence with regard to if formulation helps offenders improve- however, it was found that formulation helped with suggesting a treatment plan for bulimia and the treatment was better than standard CBT.

Suggests that, with regards to treating adult violent offenders + impact of treatment on re-convictions, programmes targeting criminogenic needs using cognitive behavioural methods seemed to have the best effect.

There's interpretation in doing a case formulation. Psychologist puts a lot of info into a concise document- may often require interpretation based on what psychologist thinks is important. Suggests it may lack reliability and validity.
