1st 3 months, people in paranoid-schizoid position: feelings of persecution & being all-powerful. poor relationship with carer: unable to move on: schizophrenic core of personality. respond to stress by reverting back to these feelings(schiz symps)

a specific type of parent that increases your likelihood of developing schizophrenia, according to the work done with her own patients. called the schizophrenogenic mother: cold, controlling, creates family life of tension and secrecy.

not a 100% concordance rate suggesting there are environmental factors which could include having a schizophrenogenic mother
