What are the main 4 factors which affects quality care?
1. Low staff to child ration/ 2. Well trained staff/ 3. Low staff turnover (so they don't keep on leaving)/ 4. They physical environment should be good(lots of toys, clean, warm)

Day care nursery

Alspac (1991/2). Finding: There are no negative affects including aggression. Conclusion: day care may not increase aggression. Evaluation: this was a large study, so a caution should be put on about generalising esp. in UK were there are subcultures

Another study supporting this:
Shae (1981). Finding: Children become more socailable the longer they went to nursery, gression decreased and the affects were more noticable on children who went for 5 day instead of 2

What was the conclusion and evaluation:
Conclusion: day care decreases aggression and increases socailbilty/ evaluation: agression decreased if the child went for 5 days instead of 2 which shows that the nursery was affecting them rather than them maturing

What is another study:
EPPE (1991). findings: analysing the data showed that there was a risk of anti-socail behaviour if the child spent over 20 hours at the nurser, most noticably at 40 hours a week .

What was the conclusion
Conclusion: the longer a child spends at a day care nursery the higher the risk of anti-socail behaviour however this is more prominent in day care nurseries over child minders
