Give one study on cultural variation on the strange situation?

Takanas (1990) - findings were 5% types A/ 27% type C/ 68%type B - this may be due to the fact that in Japan it is rude to ignore people

What is the aim/finding of this study?

Aim: to find the difference in attachment types between cultures/ findings: Type B was the main atachment type on all cultures, in (individualistic) western countries type A was higher, while in (Eastern) collective cultures type C was higher

What is the conclusion of this study?

There are massive variation in attachment between cultures

What is the evaluation of this study?

Over simplisity of a country - GB is classed as one culture but it has multiple sub cultures in it/ This test was made for American infant, so this may not be valid in other cultures/imposed Eticat - this is only valid if all behaviours mean the same
