What is one case study into privation:
THE cheque twins. There mother died, so they spent 11 months in a childs home, then 6 months with an aunt. They eventually went back to their dad, but their step mother kept them in a cold cellar (after treatment for rickets)

What did the Cheque twin case study show?
That even considering the extreme privation they showed that they could grow up too be normal health adults, with normal cognitive skills

What is another case study into privation:
Genie. she was found at 13 years old, after having years of being strapped to a potty and her father beat her if she made a sound. She never fully recovered and never gained full language skills or good social adjustment despite intervention

Give a study into deprivation?
44 thieves Bowlby. Aim: was to find out if maternal deprivation affects behavioural disorders. FInding = 86% of the thieves were diagnosed with affectionless psychopathy, had experienced separation from their mothers at a young age

What is the conclusion/problems of 44 thieves?
There is a link between early deprivation and behavioural disorders/ the data is only correlational, 'affectionless psychopathy' isn't an offical term

What is a study into Institutionalisation?
The Romanian orphans. Roman Orphans were assessed when they were 4/6/11. They had all experienced extreme privation in Romania at the orphanage

What were the conclusion to the Romanian Orphans?
. The orphans who were adopte before 6 months showed signs of normal social behavioural, while orphans who were adopted after 6 months showed signs disinhibited attachments and problems with their peers. COmpared to the control group
