What is the order of pre-linguistic stages?
Vegetative, Cooing, Babbling, Proto-words

What is Vegetative?
Sounds of discomfort or reflexive sounds e.g. crying

Word-like vocalisations not matching actual words but used for the same meaning e.g. 'mmm' for 'give me that' whilst pointing to an object
