Power from the sun and the earth

?
Where does the solar energy come from?
Solar energy from the sun travels through space to the earth as electromagnetic radiation.
1 of 7
What does a solar cell do?
A seolar cell transfers the solar energy to electrical energy
2 of 7
How much electricity can each cell generate?
Each cell only generates a small amount of electricity (useful for smaller devices such as calculators or watches)
3 of 7
What is a solar panel?
Solar cells can be joined up to make solar panels.
4 of 7
How do solar panels work?
Solar panels work as water flowing through a solar heating panel is heated directly by energy from the sun.
5 of 7
How does a solar power tower work?
A solar power tower uses thousands of mirrors to reflect sunlight onto a water tank to heat the water and produce steam.
6 of 7
What is geothermal energy?
Geothermal energy is produced inside the earth by radioactive processess and this heats the surrounding rock. Cold water is pumped down to the hot rocks and the steam used to power the turbines.
