Power belongs to a group and exists when the group stays together, e.g. democratic practices are only legitimate from social cohesion

It is elusive. It can be vested in persons or in offices; power through the title and established hierarchy therefore coercion and persuasion is not needed and to remain in authority requires respect

By having proxy wars or wars in their colonies - evident in the Cold War

Strong and large population that can create a large workforce; territory; economy

How did China use material power during the 2008 recession?
China had the ability to bankrupt the West by calling in debt but they didn't, so now America has to be very careful around speech about China, military forces and national strategy
