Tradition has less influence on our society which gives members more choice and individualism. We calculate the risks with every choice made and we live in a society where we constantly analyse risk.

Peeps likely to enter a marriage based on their individual wishes and expectations rather then societys traditional norms of family. The decide what is best for themselves by negotiating there roles.more risky for society as members are free to leave

Giddens- We live in a society where people have more choice and equal rights. Members are free to define their own relationship and are likely to enter a relationship due to personal reasons such as emotional satisfaction and love rather then for oth

Shift in attitudes - where religion has less influence on sociey and thus peoples choices and beliefs about diversity have increased. Growing acceptance of sexuality and other diversity types. More same sex relationships.

Family has not become that diveresed but the only change to the nuclear family is the roles have become more joint and dual earner. Apart from this chester argues that not much has changed and people still chose to live in a nuclear family.
