What is meant by Abiotic and Biotic factors? Give examples for each.
Abiotic- non living. eg- temperature/rainfall/light intensity Biotic-Living. eg competition/predation

Layer of land, air and water that surrounds the earth

What is meant by the term 'Ecosystem' ?
Ecosystem refers to all the abiotic and biotic components of the environment eg- oak woodland

Group of interbreeding organisms of 1 species in a habitat.

Define Community
All populations of different organisms living and interacting together in a particular place at the same time.

Define Habitat
A habitat is where an organism lives. Each habitat has its own microhabitat with a microclimate

Explain what is meant by 'Ecological Niche' ?
A niche describes how an organism fits into the environment and what it does there. Includes all the abiotic and biotic factors required for the organism to survive, reproduce and maintain a viable population.
